Hondata Does It Again!
Two Cars, Two Land Speed Records
In July of 2009, Hondata's RSX and CRX once again set a new land speed record at the El Mirage dry lake bed, with 196 mph and 156mph respectively.
Located 40 minutes outside of Palmdale, between the 14 and 15 freeways, El Mirage is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The Southern California Timing Association holds events at the dry lakebed monthly from the months of May through November. The course is 1.3 miles long and the conditions depend on the previous year's rainfall to create hard or smooth surfaces for racing.
Doug Macmillan's 2005 Acura RSX is powered by a K20A, low-compression engine force-fed by twin Rotrex Superchargers. The Rotrex units were installed, and piping fabricated, by Norco-based KraftWerks. Oscar Jackson has been working closely with Hondata over the last two years to create an impressive solution for the RSX. In June, Doug boosted the G/BGCC (2 Liter Blown Gas Competition Coupe) record from 178.867 mph, to an impressive 194.955 mph! In July, he broke his record yet again, this time at a blistering 196.304 mph; trying hard to break the 200 mph barrier. Doug is currently first in points for cars, and second overall out of 189 cars.
