Porsche 928

1997-1995
Porsche took on a new concept to extend their range by introducing a 2+2 luxury Grand Tourer to compliment the out and out sports car that the 911 model was, Making its first appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in 1977, the front engined water cooled 4.5 L, SOHC 16-valve V8 producing 237 Bhp sending the drive to the rear wheels. The 928 was available as either a 3 speed automatic or 5 speed dog-leg box with the most popular option being the automatic. To save weight the 928 was constructed from steel with aluminium panels, roof and had many ground breaking features for a sports car and was rewarded with the 1978 “European car of the Year”.

Sporting wider alloys, re-worked front and rear spoilers and a 300Bhp 4.7L power plant, later in1984 it produced 306 Bhp and named S2 in the U.K 140 special edition 928 S called "50th Jubilee" also known as "Ferry Porsche Edition" were available outside the U.S. and Canada to celebrate Porsches 50th Birthday. With metallic meteor paint work and flat disc wheels, wine red leather and special striped fabric seat centers The North American 1985 928 S had a new 5.0 L, DOHC unit with 4 valves per cylinder and producing 288 Bhp.

Porsche 928 S4
Late 1986 brought an updated 5.0 L V8 for all markets producing 320 Bhp, using a single-disc clutch for the 5 speed manuals and a bigger torque converter in automatics

Porsche 928 GT
1989 came the replacement for the 928 CS and automatic transmission was not available.

Porsche 928 GTS
The S4 and GT were both replaced in 1991 by the GTS and it housed a larger 5400cc 345 bhp, slightly revised bodywork and bigger brakes.
